What IS research quality, anyway?
The term ‘research excellence’ is ubiquitous, and we all agree that we want it, but there is less overt agreement as to what that consists of. Proponents of responsible research assessment argue that we need to broaden the range of contributions that we value, assess, and reward, in the research ecosystem. However, it’s less clear what those contributions should be and what ‘good’ looks like? In this 90 minute workshop, we will use the INORMS SCOPE framework to explore what research quality really is in a specific context and discuss how we might recognise and reward a broader range of contributions.
