We have a research project named “Practices, Perceptions, and Patterns of Research Integrity” (PRINT) where we examine questionable research practices (QRP) (definitions, types), their perceptions and prevalence within and across main fields of research (knowledge production models), as well as scrutinizing the most predominant mechanisms potentially influencing QRPs, and examine how they relate to individuals, institutions, norms, and standards.

My talk will focus on a census survey we did among all researchers working at Danish universities (excluding PhD-students) supplemented with an identical survey administered to 10 international universities in four countries, where amongst other things we examined prevalence of 25 potential QRPs. The talk will focus upon lessons learned and especially the conceptual and operational challenges in measuring sensitive issues such as QRPs in surveys.
